60 Bermondsey Street


The brief was to accommodate a commercial unit on the ground floor, an apartment on the first and also a two-bedroom maisonette on a site, which was just under 4m wide but 15 metres long.		   Despite the narrow plot the completed project feels spacious, especially with the two-storey conservatory structure, which is overlooked from a balcony on the master bedroom. Internally the spaces are simple with a small number of materials and clean lines emphasising the available space.   Externally the same simplicity establishes the building as a distinctive addition to an eclectic street.

The project won a Civic Trust Award in 2002.
