London Underground Entrance Canopies, Central Line Station

Following the completion of the work at Putney Bridge Station we were commissioned to develop similar ides for several stations on the Central Line.		   The intention was to establish a new identity and a more visible presence in often busy diverse urban environments. Various stations were studied including Marble Arch, Bond Street and Notting Hill Gate. In the event only a prototype version of the wall hung canopy was completed at Queensway Station.   A development of the system was designed and implemented at Whitechapel station. The glazed canopies were designed to be structurally expressive, dramatic and to glow when uplit from below.
