Woolwich DLR Opening

Client: DLR / WARE / AMEC

The new DLR Station at Woolwich Arsenal was officially opened to the public in January 2009 by Boris Johnson.
Weston Williamson was responsible for the extension of the Docklands Light Railway to London City Airport, which has now been extended further under the Thames to the new station at Woolwich, also designed by Weston Williamson.

The new station is part of a £100 million project taking place in the area.
Weston Williamson made changes to the alignment and layout of the station making it more user friendly and improving the potential for oversite development.

Weston Williamson worked with Michael Craig Martin who was commissioned by Transport for London to produce a series of murals displayed in the station at the head of the stairwell.
