We were commissioned to design a quality residential development on the banks of the River Colne in Colchester. This included refurbishing the Victorian quayside buildings in one of Colchester's regeneration sites.		   They embody much of the past history of the locality and are therefore of immense value to the town and the waterfront. In spite of this they were neglected and in poor condition but structurally sound. The retention, enhancement and restoration of these existing buildings was the primary goal.   They would be refurbished sensitively to retain their character. The new building is designed to complement this by echoing the shape and patterns of the original quay-side buildings naturally and without pastiche. A new cantilevered river walk and seating on the rivers edge were also incorporated.
