King Alfred's School, LondonAt Weston Williamson we are particularly concerned with the details that users touch, feel and see everyday and their positioning within architecture. So many school buildings are designed from an adult's point of view. |
We feel the school environment should be seen through a child’s eyes and that designing a friendly, unintimidating, considered environment is vital. A feasibility study was completed for the addition and replacement of 6 classrooms and a hall over a three-year period. | Emphasis was maintained upon child friendly details, concentrated chiefly through scale, alongside the concern for the quality of natural light and natural materials, and environmental strategy to create a suitable atmosphere for the school. |
