Xiamen City is an important centre for communications with big opportunities for economic development. The station will help lead and encourage innovation and expansion of this city.		   It is necessary to build a modernized, urban-comprehensive communications hub with plans to develop the surrounding area to include the coach and bus stations and interchange facilities.   Commercial and residential buildings are also to be provided to capitalise on the new transport infrastructure to generate a carbon neutral living and working environment with efficient public transport at its core.   The design will be energy-efficient and naturally ventilated. The construction will use recyclable materials and traditional construction technologies and local products.
