Weston Williamson + Partners’ masterplan for Arden Cross brings together the vision for a sustainable, smart and connected new destination with opportunities for employment, skills, learning and living. The masterplan will support HS2’s objectives acting as a catalyst for growth in the region.
The 140 hectare site will support 27,000 new jobs, 6 million sq ft of employment space, 3,000 new homes and brand new infrastructure to ensure its benefits spread far and wide. It will create a new place for work, home and leisure, all wrapped around the new HS2 Interchange station and connecting to central London in just 38 minutes and to every major English regional city in less than an hour.
We worked in partnership with Mott MacDonald, Gerald Eve and Arden Cross Limited (ACL), a special purpose delivery vehicle created by landowners Birmingham City Council, Coleshill Estate and the Packington Estate, to the develop the proposals for this dynamic new area of the UK.
We have addressed the site’s complex topography and pre-existing infrastructure that truncates the current land by designing new public transit networks that seamlessly integrates all public transport systems. The development of the Central Avenue creates a car free thoroughfare lined with community and commercial activities that are linked to the full range of public transport nodes delivering connectivity across the wider region.
Bringing the vision behind Arden Cross to life is a complex process that requires the input of many stakeholders and will take time to deliver to ensure the vision is delivered. We are continuing to support ACL and their partners to progress the proposals and realise this £3 billion development.
