Breaking down barriers and reaching new heights

Geoff Bee

Geoff is a highly talented designer with considerable experience in leading complex projects in various sectors and scales around the globe, ranging from cultural buildings to high rise towers and city shaping infrastructure and masterplanning projects.

Senior Partner Geoff Bee has been announced Male Mentor of the Year at the prestigious European Women in Construction & Engineering Awards (WICE)

The award was made for Geoff’s outstanding contribution and commitment to nurturing the talent of the women within the studio and the industry, enabling them to become exceptional in their fields. Geoff was nominated by senior associate Kirsten Galea who has worked with Geoff since she joined WW+P in 2007.

Geoff joined WW+P in 2003 and is the studio’s technical director for transportation projects in the UK and abroad: Says Geoff: “The WICE Awards is an amazing event and a vital part of the construction industry’s progress in promoting and solving gender issues. I’m honoured to have won Best Male Mentor. I learnt a tremendous amount from my fellow finalists during the selection process and, as a result, I’m now investigating ways in which to bring mentoring education into our business model.

I was lucky enough to have Geoff leading my first project on the DLR extension. He was always willing to discuss the finer details of the design until I felt confident enough to take it forward by myself. Over the years, I have been able to approach Geoff with any problems I’ve had and no matter how busy, he always takes time to help. Geoff has also been a great champion of our women’s group W@WW and was instrumental in helping us to obtain initial approval and funding from the partners

Kirsten Galea

I am extremely proud of the people that I have mentored and their commitment and achievements inspire me to continue to encourage further diversity in our industry. 55% of my delivery team members are female and 70% of the team are being led by a woman and I intend to maintain this momentum.
