First cultural project win for Team Sydney

Our growing team in Sydney has won its first cultural/heritage project, the refurbishment of All Souls Chapel in Rookwood cemetery, Sydney. The chapel is one of a number of architecturally significant 19th century buildings and mausolea on the 280 hectare site that are in need of restoration. The works include internal refurbishment as well as a new external podium and canopy.

Rookwood is the largest cemetery in the southern hemisphere and one of Sydney’s oldest, in operation since 1867. It is also the most multi-cultural, providing burial and commemoration for over 90 diverse communities.

The project will be led by Associate architect David Holden who relocated from our London office to Sydney in 2015. Development Approval is expected to be submitted in March.
