Alex Kirkwood, Beatrix Young, Chie Shimizu, Daniel Moor, Simon Catton and Thomas Griffin work across the transport, infrastructure, masterplanning, residential and commercial teams in London and Sydney, and bring specific skills to the leadership team.
A new management board will be appointed to lead the practice and ensure diverse and inclusive representation across the studio. Existing Partner Philip Breese takes up the role of Managing Partner responsible for the day to day running of the practice in the UK. Philip joined WW+P in 2005 and has worked across all areas of the practice and has been influential in the development of the business over this period.
WW+P’s continued growth comes from across the practice’s diverse range of UK projects including Elizabeth line stations at Paddington and Woolwich; Crossrail 2 and HS2 master planning; residential developments across London for local authorities and developers, and commercial developments for Network Rail. In Australia, WW+P has teams working on the transformative Melbourne Metro project, Sydney Metro Sydenham Station as well as a number of cultural projects from its newly established Sydney and Melbourne studios. The practice has also won the Science City competition in Egypt and in Canada is working at Pearson Airport in Toronto.
Philip Breese, WW+P’s managing partner, said: “The new partners are committed to building on the tremendous growth we have had as a practice in recent years, as both a world-class designer of major infrastructure and a British export success story. We are taking the expertise and experience we have gained from Crossrail and implementing it from Canada to Australia as well as on the next major rail projects in the UK.”
As part of these changes Founding Partner Steve Humphreys is to retire at the end of March 2019. Along with Andrew Weston and Chris Williamson, Steve Humphreys formed Weston Williamson in 1985.
Chris Williamson said: “It has been a joy and great honour to work with Steve both as students and in practice. His talent, photographic memory, design and drawing ability is truly amazing. Andrew and I could not have hoped for a more inspirational partner over the last three decades."
