Consultation + collaboration
With more than 30 stakeholders actively involved in the design process, Forrestfield Airport Link is a highly challenging project with multiple levels of consultation and review.
A collaborative approach was essential to the project’s success. The design team worked within the transport authority policies and requirements to deliver a seamless design that is high quality user-friendly and provides a positive passenger experience.
This important rail link was the number one priority of the METRONET vision. With work now underway, this project will deliver a significant jobs boost for Western Australians and help improve connectivity across our suburbs.
Integrating with the landscape
The Airport Central Station integrates with the Perth Airport masterplan and is a key part of the expansion of the airport. Natural light floods through a generous skylight in the aerodynamic roof on to the main concourse and platform areas.
At Redcliffe Station the station design reflects the future requirements of the City of Belmont Masterplan. It provides the community with an integrated infrastructure hub that brings in the local landscape, and ensures the growth and viability for the future urban development.
As well as creating 2,000 jobs throughout the life of the project, the Forrestfield-Airport Link will revolutionise public transport in the eastern foothills, and provide choice for how many of us travel to and from Perth Airport. The Forrestfield-Airport Link will provide affordable, efficient and quick access to the airport and eastern foothills - it will be a two-zone fare from the CBD.
