Dark and cluttered
Network Rail appointed us to undertake improvement works to the link route between the station and the adjacent Broadgate development, which was rather dingy and cluttered.
We generated numerous design options assessing changes to flooring, ceiling, shopfronts, improvements in lighting and changes to the internal walls as well as improvements to the external façade.
Playing with light and space
The retail environment is significantly enhanced by increasing the perceived width and height of the space and streamlining the signage. Comfortable lighting levels also play a key role in encouraging people to use the Broadgate link and to linger in the shops. Feature lighting introduces atmosphere and character to the space during the daytime and in the evening.
Engagement with British Land has been key to designing options that provide a sense of continuity with proposals currently on-site, and deliver a smooth transition through the different spaces significantly enhancing the experience for both passengers and retailers.
